Tomás Francisco Diaz was born in Northern California. He grew up in a bi-cultural American and Venezuelan household. At thirteen years of age, Tomás suffered from a pituitary tumor, which was surgically removed after it began to affect his vision. He continues to experience after-effects of the surgery, which prompted him to start writing as a way to cope with the disability. Tomás is interested in fantasy, sci-fi, and nonfiction, and especially enjoys books on antiquities. He has a bachelor's degree in history and has studied warfare and weapons, resulting in knowledge that he uses throughout his work.
