John Stavros

From the small village of Valira, Greece, to the vibrant streets of New York City, John Stavros built a legacy that changed the worlds of sport and style. A professional soccer player and visionary designer, he was among the first to merge fashion with athletics, helping launch women's soccer in New York during the late 1970s. With the Stavros Soccer Team (SST), he introduced custom uniforms tailored for women, created the city's first competitive league, and inspired a movement that blended elegance with strength.

Beyond the field, Stavros forged a remarkable 57-year career across fashion, music, art, and film. Mentored by greats like Antonio Lopez, he helped define the era of "sports chic," collaborated with cultural icons, and built platforms to elevate others.
